"The
Journey is the Destination", Coastal Train Excursions aboard
the Maine Eastern Railroad
Maine Eastern Railroad's 2005 schedule will offer Thursday through
Sunday service from July 2 through September 2, and weekend only
service from September 2 to October 31. A new toll-free telephone
number will be published soon and will be in operation in early
May.
Serving the Midcoast, Maine Eastern Railroad operates scheduled
passenger service along the seacoast between Brunswick and Rockland,
with stops in the villages of Bath and Wiscasset. Travel in comfort
to Midcoast attractions and special events. The Maine Eastern fleet
is comprised of totally restored streamlined stainless steel railcars,
and a first class parlour observation lounge car that harkens back
to the Art Deco era of the 1940s and 1950s. Their 54- and 58-seat
coaches are accompanied by a restored British Columbia Railway dining
car that provides passengers with locally prepared downeast specialties
served cafe style and is the social setting for narrated discussion
of the scenery and historic highlights of the 50-mile route. In
late April, train schedules and information for special events and
holidays can be viewed and tickets purchased by visiting their web
site at:
