Eastern Railroad Activates Passenger Rail to Rockland for Lobster
Festival
The Maine
Lobster Festival Train will operate passenger service between Brunswick
and Rockland, Maine from Thursday, August 5 through Sunday, August
8, 2004.
Passengers will ride in comfort in deluxe, climate controlled passenger
coach cars along the spectacular Maine coast, past magnificent vistas
showcasing Maine's natural beauty. Light snacks and beverages will
be available in the on-board cafe car.
One excursion daily will depart the temporary rail station on Cedar
Street in Brunswick, making one stop in Bath to pick up passengers.
The scenic passage from Brunswick to Rockland will take approximately
2-hours, and passengers will have the opportunity to spend several
hours (see daily schedule) at the festival prior to the return trip
home.

The service is being operated by Maine
Eastern Railroad in response to a request from Governor John
E. Baldacci that a pilot rail program be established on the Rockland
Branch line this summer. The Lobster Festival Train is being coordinated
by the Northern New England
Passenger Rail Authority (NNEPRA) with funds made available
through the
Maine Department of Transportation
(MDOT).
