Industry Salutes Restoration Efforts for Maine Lighthouses

Harbor, Maine (June 1, 2004) – As an industry known for
creating lifetime memories for their passengers as well as many
economic opportunities for the port cities they visit, the Cruise
Industry Charitable Foundation (CICF) is proud to announce that
it will be presenting a grant donation to The American Lighthouse
Foundation at a Canada/New England Cruise Symposium dinner on June
2 nd at the Asticou Inn.
In
attendance will be: J. Michael Crye, President, International Council
of Cruise Lines; Gail Kelly, Regional Manager, Senator Olympia Snowe's
office; Bruce Forsley, Shipyard Brewing Company as well as many
other Maine , New England and Canadian business and community leaders.
Highlighting the event will be the presentation of a $15,000 charitable
donation by the Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation to support
The Campaign to Save Nine Maine Lights.
James
R. Border, Chairman of the Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation,
said “We're delighted to be making this important contribution to
preserve Maine 's Lighthouses and to ensure that these historic
monuments remain part of our nation's maritime heritage. We hope
that this donation to the Campaign to Save Maine's Lighthouses will
encourage others to join in as we salute the efforts of The American
Lighthouse Foundation to preserve these national treasurers.”
